Sweet Dreams (Please Don’t Be Like Me)
19x22 in - Lithography and Screen Print on Rives BFK - 2024
This piece is a continuation of my exploration of my familial relationship, this piece being specifically about my sisters. The softness of the figures is contrasted by the sharp chains and barbed wire to show the shared pain we have from growing up with neglectful parents. The scale and color are not only to be a challenge for myself but to represent the youth of us children and how absurd our feelings and situation might be. My work about my relationship with family has been a way for me to understand and work through unresolved issues and emotions I have. The words to describe these feelings are easier said when I have an image that describes the situation for me.
I would like to continue this narrative in future works, adding more mediums to explore themes and meanings.
Don’t You Think?
Lithography and Screen Print on Rives BFK - 2024
I like to create a self-portrait at least once a year. Drawing myself has become a way for me to see how much I change in short periods in this chaotic time in my life.
This project was a way to dig into my self-image and the thoughts I was having about changing my appearance. During this time, I just cut off most of my hair and absolutely I hated it. I felt like there was nothing I could do to feel attractive which led to a lot of thoughts of drastically changing how I look, such as pulling out my teeth.

Lithography has become my medium of choice. The way I can mix in redered imagery with more graphic aspects is something I have been playing with for the past year.
While I love image making, the process of graining a stone, etching an image, and running the press are what draws me to lithography. I love having my hand be apart of every single step of the process. Of course that means there can be a lot of mistakes along the way, but that’s part of the fun!
